THE PROBLEM: The Client is an adult stroke victim whose oral communication has been severely limited by a condition known as ephasia. Sustained, organized speech presents extreme difficulty. He required a "swing-away" support platform on which to mount and use a "Data- Vox" voice synthesizer upon which he relies.
THE SOLUTION: A surplus, commercially available computer support arm capable of 360 degree rotation and cantilever extension was mounted atop a heavy (70 lb.) steel cone that had been adapted to receive the table clamp on the support arm, and to sutain the leverage generated by the fully extended arm.
