THE PROBLEM: Our son has Duchenne's MD (genetic disease which destroys his muscles). We give him a shower in the tub using a "standard" shower chair. When his neck muscles became too weak to support his head, I modified his chair.
THE SOLUTION: I made, from plastic pipe, an elongated inverted U shape (approx 6 inches wide and height as needed) and bolted the shape to the back of the shower seat. I used one piece of lawn chair webbing and made a few loops (across the sides of the inverted "U") to provide a head rest. (I fastened the webbing to the plastic pipe using a single sheet metal screw at each end of the piece of webbing.)
