The Pant Assist

THE PROBLEM:    How do you keep your trousers up when dressing when you must use one hand to hold yourself in a standing position. I find that you can get one side up then that side falls down while you are trying to get the other side raised. Also it is impossible to fasten the top button on your pants and any belt buckle.

THE SOLUTION:   Obtain a set of Pant Braces that; a) has clips for attaching to the top of the pants and b) the straps are two separate pieces (front to back) that are attached at the back by a plastic crossover clip. Separate the two straps and throw away the plastic crossover clip. You will then have two separate aids (one for the bedroom and one for the bathroom). When dressing, before you pull yourself to a standing position, attach one clip to the right side of your trousers and the other to the left side. Loop the strap over your shoulders and adjust the tension adjuster to ensure that when you stand up the strap is short enough to pull and hold your trousers in the up position while you adjust the top of your pants prior to returning to a sitting position to remove the strap and fasten your pants and belt. It works for me and saves the hassle of rolling around on the bed to raise and do up my trousers.
