THE PROBLEM: to create a small, close-to-the-ground wheelchair that young paraplegics could operate for mobility and also mount and dismount without assistance
THE SOLUTION: the miniature chairs, as shown were made of 1/2' plywood with upholstered seat and back custions. the 10" wheels were placed just ahead of the center of gravity and a swivel caster mounted at the back. To dismount, as the child slid forward past the c of g ,the cart tipped onto a rubber braking strip holding it firmly in place. To mount, the procedure was reversed. A utility tray swings out of the way for mounting and dismounting.
