THE PROBLEM: To provide a even source of backlight for a very young child whose sight was deteriorating rapidly so that he could, as quickly as possible, get an image in his mind of the shape of many common objects.
THE SOLUTION: The lightbox is constructed of plywood and contains a number of low wattage 110 volt bulbs to spread light evenly and a reostat to control light intensity. The top is a white plastic that further difusses the light. The box is hinged (see photo ) to obtain the desired angle to the line of sight The bottom is covered with a non-slip material and the box has a number of small holes to disipate heat.
