THE PROBLEM:  The client needs to be able to switch a table lamp on and off. But she was unable to operate the switch built into her table lamp as she can use only one arm and she has limited control of her hand.

THE SOLUTION:  A small wooden box (stained and varnished) was made to contain two electrical boxes. One electrical box is for a large rocker switch, the other box is for a regular 120 Volt receptacle. It is connected to a 3-wire supply cable complete with plug, recycled from an old fridge. The wiring is arranged so that the rocker switch controls power to the receptacle. The wooden box is screwed to the surface next to the lamp, and the lamp is plugged into the receptacle. The rocker switch is easy to operate and it does not move when pressed. This arrangement could be used for any switching application.
