THE PROBLEM: Greg Papp is a high quad who injured himself in a cycling accident in 1993. As an architecture student he needed to be able to draw. He has some movement in his arms but not in his fingers and the commercially available braces would only hold the pen perpendicular and didnt give him any depth or flow.
THE SOLUTION: Tetra volunteer Alan Morris sketched some ideas and together with machinist John Hancock they created a polypropylene and plate metal brace with a cotton and Velcro strap, and a ball joint locking mechanism that allows Greg to hold a pen or pencil at different angles. After trying the device Greg says I've never been able to use a pencil effectively before. Now I've got the pressure and the fluid motion necessary to draw properly. I really want to thank you guys.
