THE PROBLEM: A man living with Arnold-chiari malformation required a cup-holder for his drink.
THE SOLUTION: The device comprises a wooden clamp block made of hard wood which is secured to a tabular member of the wheel chair with 4 clamping screws. A 3/8 inch diameter aluminium rod is secured in the clamp block between an internally threaded collar and a knurled nut. The upper end of the rod is pressed into a wooden socket. A retaining screw is provided to hold the handle of the cup-holder in the socket. The plastic cup-holder can be bought from Tim Horton for about 39 cents.
Donors: Technical Services, Memorial University (Aluminium rod).
